Multiple identities

Most Europeans have multiple identities. That's one of our biggest strengths along with diversity.

Our paradise or a sea of death

We can't be harsh enough in our criticism of the European Council's total lack of necessary action when it comes to the refugee disasters in the Mediterranean. The fact that thousands of people have died and thousands more will die, so close or even on European waters, if not appropriate measures are taken, is a common European problem and must be dealt with accordingly, with joint forces, in the short and in the long term.

The last council failed to find any sustainable measures to prevent further humanitarian disasters in the Mediterranean.

The councils comprise to triple the budget in a operation that is heavily under-funded, hardly creates a ripple in the Mediterranean and won't prevent more tragic and unnecessary deaths.

The short term solution requires a European funded and controlled operation. An operation in which member states make their combined resources from our navy's, coastguards and SAR units available to save lives and to stop human traffickers.

It's also miserable that the council failed to support any suggestions of legal ways for refugees to travel to Europe with a humanitarian visa. A solution that most likely would end the monopoly of human traffickers.

In the long term, Europe must learn its lesson and realize that common problems and challenges are best met together. It requires common resources and joint administration in these areas. If short term political interests and national battering prevents long term solutions from the council, then we can't wait for systematic reforms on the Council's competences.
It's not only a matter of democracy and accountability, it's also a matter of the common good and pragmatism.

The world are watching us and they will judge us on how we handle this humanitarian crisis on our own border.

Demand complete transparency on the EUCO summit this Thursday

President Tusk have called for a summit this Thursday in the aftermath of the tragedies in the Mediterranean.

We must demand that EUCO summit is held with open doors. We have the right to know who says what and to hold our national leaders accountable for their actions or lack of the same.

I challenge all good Europeans to bombard social media accounts of EUCO leaders and demand transparency.

No more backroom deals!

No more backroom deals!

EUCO must open its doors. Europeans have the right to hold every single national leader accountable for their words and actions in the council.

Mediterranean solutions

I wonder if the Swedish model for SAR could be a part of the solution to deal with the refugee crisis in the Mediterranean.
A pan-European SAR organization or umbrella organization of existing organizations, based on voluntary work and private donations, it would be able to operate around the clock along the war-ravaged coastlines.

We are Europeans and we have been given a responsibility

We are Europeans and we have been given a moral responsibility to speak up for all those who are being silenced. Domestically and globally.

War on terror

Every compromise we make on democracy is a battle won by terrorists.

ECI didn't boost citizens participation

The only true and serious way to increase citizens participation and EU level democracy is in fact a true EU level democracy.
Government by the people for the people.

Who is against more democracy? Who is against more participation?

Is it time to say goodbye

If we don't see radical change in the UK after the May 7 elections, the rest of EU, seriously must consider to say good bye to the UK and ask them to rethink their commitment to the European future outside the union.

Britain has become a destructive force In Europe when it comes to democratic development, liberties and European solidarity. Enough is enough!
